Concordia Place receives $10,000 MassMutual Foundation Grant

Chicago, IL – Concordia Place, a vibrant nonprofit focused on growth and opportunity through economically inclusive early childhood, teen leadership and senior wellness programs, has received a $10,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program. Concordia Place is one of twenty-two organizations nationally to receive an award. The MassMutual Foundation made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Richie Marrero a MassMutual agent with MassMutual Chicago.

“We are stronger when we come together as a community, and our Community Service Awards program recognizes a group of MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation.   “We are proud of the time and energy Richie dedicates to better his community and delighted to support the great work MassMutual financial professionals do with organizations across the country.”

Concordia Place provides proactive solutions to key social needs. They focus on providing Growth and Opportunity through economically inclusive early learning, teen leadership and senior wellness programs. Their services prepare children for a lifetime of learning, set teens up for future success in business and civics, keep seniors in their homes and independent longer, and help working parents stay employed.  Nearly 70% of the families they serve live at or below the poverty line, but only one-third of their funding comes from government sources.

“Without the support of the MassMutual Foundation and other generous organizations their programming would not have the impact it has on the children and families they serve”. ~ Cameron Nelson, Director of Advancement

Richie has been with MassMutual Chicago for four years. He has been committed to Concordia Place since 2013 and has dedicated countless hours of time and talent to help the organization grow and flourish.

“I am very pleased that my dedication to the Concordia Place has been recognized by the MassMutual Foundation,” said Richie. “This grant will provide much needed funding to continue supporting our Concordia place community through the early childhood education, teen reach and senior wellness programs”.
